One World, Many Hands
“How Diversity Enriches our World”
Scholarship Opportunity for your School
This program is geared for middle and high school students. We discovered during our travels that elementary school children seem more accepting of different cultures and traditions than those in middle and high schools.
In keeping with our philosophy of promoting global awareness and literacy as a means of encouraging friendship and peace in our communities and the world, we at Global Friends Foundation want to help students and teachers across the globe better understand this dilemma, which includes how to be loyal to one’s traditions yet respect the traditions of others.
Global Friends Foundation is available to send a representative from our Foundation to share our presentation One World, Many People to your class or grade level at your middle school or high school, wherever it may be in the world.
How it works:
- All you have to do is send a request to mjensen@globalfriendsfoundation.org
- Please note that our schedule books up quickly. We use a PowerPoint presentation and we are also interactive with the students. At the presentation, which can be for one class or several classes of the same grade, we talk about tolerance and why it is useful in our multicultural world.
- We have many slides showing diversity in our world and will send you a syllabus, as we get closer to our visit.
- If your school is chosen for a visit, we usually come early in the week, and after the presentation, assign a writing essay that the students will have two nights to complete.
- Essays from 500-1000 words will be written on the theme, “How Diversity Enriches Our World.” Your school faculty will narrow the best essays, and Global Friends Foundation will help select the winner and the runner-up.
- High School winners will be given a $500 scholarship from the Global Friends Foundation and be publicized in the local newspaper and featured on the Global Friends website. The runner-up will be given a $250 scholarship.
- Middle School winners will be given a $300 scholarship, and the runner-up will be given a $150 scholarship. The winner will be publicized in the local newspaper and featured on the Global Friends website.
- We would love to hear from you!
